KD Frame and Door Corp's roots go back to the early 1930's as a paint and hardware business in Queens. Its original home was very close to the one we have in Maspeth. Ultimately thriving in the hardware business during the war years and through the late 40's building boom on Long Island, the opening of the family's hardware supply and installation company, Sklar & Sons, came about.
The Sklar family's ingenuity came through when he patented an innovative "knocked-down" steel frame, which soon revolutionized the door installation industry. This success, in turn, led to the opening of additional steel door and fire door companies.
As the company continued to evolve, the Sklar family decided to further extend their activities in the metal and wood door industries. It was the diversification that led to the founding of KD Frame and Door Corp, the premier flush wood door and steel door manufacturer in the tri-state area.
Most importantly, KD Frame and Door Corp can attribute its ongoing success to its reliance on the same precepts of quality product, total customer service and years of knowledge and experience that has served the company so well over the years and always gets the job done right.
